Seville, 1820. The bells of a tobacco factory have just rang. The soldiers of the rising guard are waiting in front of it, wanting to buy some cigarettes. Carmen, a beautiful and passionate young gipsy steals attention of the gathered men. She enjoys it. However, she shows interest in the only man who does not seem to be enchanted by her, Don Jose.
