In a café, two young officers, Ferrando and Guglielmo, are discussing their fiancées' irreproachable fidelity. Hearing this, Don Alfonso, a cynical older man, suggests a bet, convinced their wives will cheat on them. Eventually, Ferrando and Guglielmo decide to disguise themselves and try to seduce each other's fiancée, ending up disappointed.
