Richard, a fifty year old man, decides to invite his friends Gilles and Philippe with their wives for a weekend cruise on his new luxurious boat. As this is not the only novelty in his life, he uses the opportunity to present his new, younger partner Daphnée. Rather nice, but talkative and clumsy, she quickly gets on the wives' nerves. The tension between friends starts to build up. The atmosphere gets out of hand when a storm hits the sailboat.
