Adam Vollmann, a journalist who has forged a new identity, spends his days behind a screen for the Web editorial office of the daily Aujourd'hui demain. One morning, he learns of a murder in his hometown. Shaken by the news, he asked to be sent out into the field, landing in Guerches-sur-Isoire in northern France. It was here that he suffered harassment from a group of high school students when he was a teenager, prompting him to flee and change his name. This is where he fell in love with the charismatic Axel Challe, now accused of murdering a young woman, Lola Montès. Adam begins to investigate and stumbles across the ghosts of this painful past, discovering inhabitants behaving strangely.
