Algeria, 1959. In Kabylia, the operations carried out by the French army intensify over the months. The young lieutenant Terrien arrives from France to take command of a section based in the sector. He meets Sergeant Dougnac, a disillusioned professional soldier who takes a dim view of the arrival of this young idealistic man. The various missions and the difficult living conditions in the camp exacerbate the differences between the two soldiers. As the weeks go by, caught up in a war, witnessing exactions and massacres, including that of an entire village by the Fellaghas, Terrien changes gradually...
