Marquise, a young dancer, is noticed by Molière on a market in Lyon. To escape misery, she decides to marry Gros-René, an actor in the famous playwright's troupe. Even though she's an excellent dancer, the young woman aspires to become an actress. Later, she manages to seduce Louis XIV at Versailles and ends up becoming the mistress of Racine, who writes for her Andromaque.
