Son of a local school teacher and a seamstress, Marcel Pagnol was born in 1895, in the south of France. Being present in the classroom from a very early age, while his father was teaching his students to count and read, Marcel acquired that knowledge early on. During a holiday vacation in the mountainous region of Allauch, the family befriends cheerfuller neighbours, while Marcel gets to know Lili, a local peer who teaches him all the marvellous secrets of these beautiful hills: the sources and caves where they could hide and play.
